Profile

This venue is closed.

Light is located under the glow of the Citicorp building on a midtown block that feels more like Tokyo than Manhattan. The sleek, minimalist vibe continues as you pass through the light-box front door and descend into the subterranean lounge. Right down to the gigantic sunken living room, this is exactly the sort of space that many of the young financial-types who frequent here are saving up to own: hardwood floors, amber lighting, a décor the suggests something akin to Architectural Digest lite. Along the walls, in plush, red banquettes, the after-work drinkers sip decadent, chocolate martinis and nosh edamame and spring rolls off the McAsian menu. Behind some frosted Japanese sliding doors, a side room offers more privacy. Although the scene can be lean early in the week and on Fridays, on Thursdays a hip hop and R&B DJ and an all-you-can-drink special gets a couple of those wingtips on the dance floor.
