Profile
The Whitney Museum of American Art's basement level store stocks the usual museum souvenirs—postcards, exhibition catalogs, coffee table art books—as well as a handsome collection of pop-art inspired housewares, jewelry, and gifts. For kids, the clever art game Where Art Thou? or a pair of spindly legged, motorized critters may do. Those who prefer to appreciate art from the couch may also appreciate the excellent DVD section, with some great documentaries on modern masters like Alexander Calder and Chuck Close, and offerings by cinematic geniuses like John Cassavetes.
