Profile
You'll feel comfortable talking for hours in either of Yaffa’s two rooms—bar in front, tea room in back—and both have more class than your standard local eatery. And the respectable food—while leaning towards homey comfort—carries plenty of zesty kick. The menu, like the tastefully plush tea room, has a Moroccan flair, and spice shows up in everything from the lamb sausage to the babaganush. The kitchen serves up cous cous, in both vegetarian and meaty versions. For mellower flavors, try the Guinness beef stew or, to cleanse your palate, one of over twenty kinds of tea.
ExtraYaffa’s offers a full high tea, which includes small sandwiches, scones, dessert samplings, and, of course, tea. The cost is $30. Reservations are required and should be made at least two days in advance.
Recommended DishesBlack bean soup, $6; Mediterranean platter with falafel, $14; Guiness beef stew, $15.50
