Astoria: There's an $85, three-hour Greenmarket class at Sai Organics on Saturday, with $10 benefiting the Coalition Against Hunger. [Joey in Astoria]
Long Island: Bobby Flay on the Crunch burger at his new Burger Palace, which opened in Lake Grove on Tuesday: "It's like when you order a cheeseburger with the fries on the side and they get caught in the melted cheese and give the burger some crunch. The crisp potato chips with the melted cheese works like that." [Hamburger Today]
Midtown East: Not only will beloved Japanese quick-eats stop and bakery Cafe Zaiya, open a slightly classier location called Cafe Zest on 47th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues Tuesday (with a 50 percent–off promotion), but the owners have also purchased the space upstairs and will turn it into an organic Japanese restaurant called Nonoca, by August. (For now you can try some of Nonoca's meals to go at Zest.) [Midtown Lunch]
Williamsburg: Williamsburger should be open on South 2nd Street and Wythe Avenue in two weeks' time. [Eater]

A handful of sit-down restaurants hoping to cash in on summer ice-cream cravings have started selling creamy, pastry chef–approved servings to go. They've rejected the wannaberry frozen-yogurt model in favor of local mix-ins, butterfat, and, in one successful case, soy. We sampled their results and offered our own superlatives. Alexandra Vallis
What to make of the Country Club, the lounge that Guest of a Guest reports will open next Wednesday in the short-lived Dirty Disco’s space at 248 W. 14th Street? According to a press release, it’ll be a “contemporary interpretation of classic clubhouse lounges found in early 20th century country clubs throughout the United States and Great Britain.” Designer Jeanie Ziering says she was inspired by a vision of “the Rolling Stones recording an album at a traditional English Manor and the environment that would be left upon the album’s completion.” There will indeed be live music at the venue, as well as D.J.'s, of course. The menu, meanwhile, will consist of Truffled Grilled Cheese, “Pigs in a Blanket” Lollipops, and a variety of flavored popcorn such as Sweet Georgia Pecan and Chocolate Chunk & Caramel. Gourmet popcorn aside, this place sounds like a replay of Manor, which recently closed nearby, but we’ll wait to see how it comes together. When we peeked in earlier this week it was still under construction.
The Country Club Of New York Almost Ready To Open [Guest of a Guest]

The blogger feud seems to have cooled, but Guest of a Guest and Down by the Hipster are still being catty with each other. DBTH hit last night’s Interview party at Delicatessen and wrote, “We spotted everyone who is anyone, including that girl you like and her cousin, the guy who did that thing that makes everyone jealous,” prompting Guest of a Guest to condescend: “I was personally pleased to see Scott [Solish, a.k.a. DBTH] try his hand at normalcy for a change, actually appearing at the new hot spot to give us the details, while we were in Montauk chowing down on Sam Talbot’s burgers.” Oh, Montauk! That’s gotta sting! DBTH then linked to the post in which GoaG writers Scott Buccheit and Naeem Delbridge promised the Eldridge would be “more exclusive and luxurious than anything currently out there,” and decided it was “just those two being silly.” We await Guest of a Guest’s next jab — we’re pretty sure it’ll involve playing lawn darts with Surf Lodge owner Jamie Mulholland.

• The FDA deems tomatoes safe to eat again, but beware the potentially salmonella-laden jalapeño and serrano peppers. [WSJ]
• Ben & Jerry’s has unveiled a new ice cream inspired by Elton John called Goodbye, Yellow Brickle Road. It contains a lot of things that probably shouldn’t be eaten together in good conscience, like chocolate ice cream, peanut-butter cookie dough, butter "brickle," and white-chocolate chunks. • Finally, a book on cannibalism clears up that huge misunderstanding about human flesh tasting like pork; it actually tastes like beef, but better. [NYS]

Delicatessen doesn’t open till 6 p.m. today, but last night, after two years in the making, it finally opened its garage windows for a party thrown by Interview. Despite the proximity to neighborhood killjoy Janet Freeman’s house, the D.J. wasn’t shy about blasting songs like “Everybody Nose” and “Cocaine.” Ironically, during the latter song we spotted a pair of naughty girls coming out of a restroom that (outfitted with mirror walls and hidden behind metal walls resembling airline cargo crates) is a throwback to nineties lounge design. As you might expect from the owners of Cafeteria, the rest of the place is, too. There’s not much new about the sleek surfaces, backlit back bar, and the cabinlike (odoriferous!) wood panels upstairs, but we were wowed by the square, eight-table room downstairs, where there’s a D.J. booth, a wall mural by José Heredia, and a sunroof offering a view of the tenement buildings above.

The critics had their knives out when Tailor opened.Photo: Melissa Hom.
Update: Speaking of Tailor and negative press, cocktailian Rick Stutz live-blogs a lecture from Tales of the Cocktail, the New Orleans mixology conference. Says Eben Freeman: “I don’t care if you made bad drinks. I don’t care if you steal my ideas. Just don’t talk shit about me on your blogs.”
